New Discover Boating Facebook Invitation Application Makes it Easy for Captains to Invite Friends on the Water this Summer

New Discover Boating Facebook Invitation Application Makes it Easy for Captains to Invite Friends on the Water this Summer

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 15, 2011

Boaters love to socialize, whether at the dock, on the water—or online. Now, thanks to Discover Boating, a nonprofit awareness program on behalf of the recreational boating industry, boat owners can invite friends, family and other nautical novices aboard using the new Welcome to the Water boating trip planner at Facebook.com/DiscoverBoating.

“Extending an invitation to friends and family to enjoy a day on your boat is one of the benefits of being a boat owner—you get to bring them along to experience the fun of boating,” says Carl Blackwell, chief marketing officer for Discover Boating. “We wanted to capture the enjoyment of extending that invitation, and we designed an innovative way boaters can share their passion for boating with an online experience that extends to a day on the water—offline.”

Blackwell also notes that more than 15.2 million Facebook users listed boating or boating-related activities as an interest in their profiles.

Launching just in time for peak boating season, the Welcome to the Water boating trip planner is available in the U.S. to those who “Like” Discover Boating at Facebook.com/DiscoverBoating. The application allows “captains” to simply invite their “crew,” using their list of Facebook friends to create an invite.

Beyond the standard date and time options, customizable application features include:

Type of Boating Trip: What are the plans? Will the “crew” be fishing, cruising or dropping anchor to swim?
Onboard Supplies: What can each guest bring for the trip? Snacks, fishing bait, towels or chip in for gas?
Where to Meet: “Captains” can utilize Take Me Fishing’s Places to Boat & Fish tool to give their guests directions to more than 35,000 places to get on the water.

Once the “crew” accepts, trip invitations will be posted on guests’ Facebook pages and newsfeeds, allowing captains and crew to share their on-the-water summer plans. As added incentive, captains will be ranked by the number of people they invite and will be eligible to win weekly nautical prizes. The application will also generate a collective total of boating participants invited to get out on the water throughout the summer.

According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, 75 million people chose boating as a way to enjoy the outdoors last year and more than 90 percent of Americans live within an hour’s drive of a navigable body of water. For more information on getting started in boating, Discover Boating offers a new step-by-step Get Off Your Dock guide at DiscoverBoating.com. The latest boating news, summer boating playlists and more can be found at Facebook.com/DiscoverBoating.

The “Malibu Boats Backstage Pass” was filmed to give viewers a 10-minute glimpse into the Malibu Difference. The Malibu Backstage Pass video demonstrates the power behind Malibu Boats performance. Amy Mauzy, Marketing Manager for Malibu Boats, explains Malibu’s custom hull options, big wake enhancement versatility, World Record slalom performance, handling characteristics and ride. Malibu’s National Promo Team Director, Dennis Kelley, also talks in detail about the research that goes into Malibu performance design.

“Versatility, handling, ride, wakes, it all comes together on the water and that’s where Malibu boats separate from the pack,” Mauzy concludes.

Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, outlines the developments that have made Malibu Boats the innovation leader in the water sports industry. Singer describes a few of the industry firsts implemented by Malibu including the MaliView Dash and Entertainment System, frameless windshields, the new Illusion G3 tower with weightless fold-down and the engineered fin-saver swim platform.

Singer also goes into detail about Malibu’s proven production processes. He focuses on their meticulous gel coat preparation and application, the extra steps Malibu takes in lamination, the Malibu Fiberglass Engine Chassis System (FibECS) and the unibody construction that creates a Malibu boat’s quiet ride. Malibu Boats Production Manager, Reese Stansell weighs in on the company’s superior in-house production of components in additional to the boats, like the new G3 tower. Like many signature Malibu parts, this new industry-altering wakeboard tower is designed, created and assembled in-house at Malibu Boats to ensure quality.

“We don’t build boats this way because it’s easier or inexpensive. We do it because it’s the right way and gets us closer to our goal of building the best boat possible,” Singer explains.

Mauzy concludes the video with a look inside the superior fit and finish of a Malibu boat. She specifically points out what makes the interior so comforting, strong and luxurious.

U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court Of Appeals Rules In Favor Of Blazer Boats In Copyright Infringement Case

U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court Of Appeals Rules In Favor Of Blazer Boats In Copyright Infringement Case

Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) August 27, 2005

Pensacola, Fla. (PRWEB) Aug. 26, 2005 – Blazer Boats Inc., a leader in the Bass and Bay Boats market announced today that the United States Circuit Court of Appeals in case no. 04-11259 upheld the ruling handed down by the U.S. Southern District Court in the lawsuit against Maverick Boat Company by Blazer Boats Inc.

The lawsuit was filed to prove that Maverick Boat Company inappropriately obtained a copyright for their Pathfinder 2200 V-Hull bay boat under the Vessel Hull Design Protection Act (“VHDPA”) and accused Blazer Boats Inc. of infringing on their copyright when Blazer introduced their model 2220 Bay Boat. The suit was filed for defamation, along with numerous other counts, based on Maverick’s allegations and statements to consumers, dealers, and the marine industry as a whole.

The Appellate Court Upheld the Southern District Court’s ruling that Maverick’s Pathfinder 2200 V-Hull design is not protected under the VHDPA stating the record demonstrates that Blazer’s boats are “original and not substantially similar in appearance to Maverick’s Pathfinder 2200 V-Hull design.” “The record before the court does demonstrate an attempt by Maverick to repackage the facts of its revision to the Pathfinder 2200 V-Hull in an effort to obtain protection under the VHDPA.” “This conduct does demonstrate carelessness on behalf of Mr. Deal, who perhaps had himself convinced that this registration would be valid, but should have acted with more caution before acting upon his belief.”

In addition, the Appellate Court upheld the District Court’s award of legal fees and expenses, stating: “we conclude from the record that the District Court did not abuse its discretion in awarding attorneys’ fees to Blazer under the VHDPA. The VHDPA expressly authorizes the court to award attorney’s fees, in its discretion to the prevailing party.”

“We are very pleased with the Appellate Court’s decision”, said Keith Craft, president of Blazer Boats Inc. “Our ongoing strategy is to never settle these baseless claims and we will continue to aggressively defend against this type of frivolous litigation. As we have stated, we are committed to upholding the integrity of this company and its products.”

About Blazer Boats Inc.:

Blazer Boats is a family-owned company that has been building high quality boats for over 30 years. Their bass boats have earned a reputation as one of the fastest and most stable boats made. Blazer’s bay boats are unique in their ability to negotiate rough seas while allowing fisherman to venture into very shallow water.

Malibu Boats Introduces New Price Point Boat Division

Malibu Boats Introduces New Price Point Boat Division

Loudon, TN (Vocus) October 21, 2008

Axis Wake Research , a new boat division under Malibu Boats LLC , will begin manufacturing high performance, price point wakeboard boats later this Fall. These entry-level boats will be made available to select dealerships as early as January, 2009. The team at Axis Wake Research has its focus on bringing new levels of quality, performance and style with unparalleled pride of ownership exclusively to the entry-level boat market.

Upon analyzing the landscape of the wakeboard boat industry and surveying current boat owners in the price point market, Malibu identified specific owner expectations that were not being met. These customers have a strong desire for a price point wakeboard boat that evokes pride of ownership with unique styling, solid reputation and top shelf construction. This research showed these buyers want big wakes that are not wrapped in the “ok for everything” compromise many price-point water sports boat manufacturers push. While the Malibu Boats line is often the ultimate desire for this type of buyer, budget has limited their current options to sub-par brands chosen only for price. When customers default to these brands for their first water sports boat buying experience the end result, many times, is a negative one. Axis Wake Research is changing that.

Challenging the conventional wisdom that a high performance wakeboard boat cannot be offered at a price point, Axis Wake Research has initiated a segment-shattering revolution. By carefully sourcing components and materials, employing in-house fabrication, lean manufacturing, unique production processes and strategic sales and marketing practices, Axis offers low cost to the customer without compromising quality.

Performance and customer satisfaction levels are also being raised by Axis through an aggressive grassroots research and development campaign. These efforts revolve around the specific needs and wants of core riders and families alike. Or as the team at Axis Wake Research likes to say and the Axis name implies “We’re centered on you.”

Because Axis is answering the needs of consumers in such a specific price point market segment, Axis boats will not be built on the same production line as Malibu Boats. The Axis movement is a completely new way to research, design, build and market entry-level big wake boats. The relationship between Malibu Boats and Axis is similar to the connection between BMW and Mini or Lexus and Toyota. Malibu and Axis are two completely different brands of boats in goal and scope, but they share the same parent company.

Look for a series of news releases from Axis Wake Research in the coming weeks describing the company, the boat and the people behind this revolution in big wake boat manufacturing.

For more information concerning this news release contact research @ axiswake.com.

BoatsPlus Expands To Include Used Boats In Boat Sales Classifieds

BoatsPlus Expands To Include Used Boats In Boat Sales Classifieds

BoatsPlus Classifieds

Melbourne, Victoria (PRWEB) May 08, 2011

Highly regarded Australian online marine trading site, BoatsPlus, has traditionally focused on showcasing new boats and motors. However, in a bid to offer an affordable alternative to those wishing to buy and sell used boats, it has now launched BoatsPlus Classifieds.

A Challenge To Existing Boat Sales Sites

BoatsPlus Owner, Luke Moulton, decided to challenge existing online used boat sales sites because, he believes, they are over-priced and do not offer consumers the best bang for their buck.

“The online boating classifieds competition is quite fierce – there are some big players providing ads for both dealers and domestic customers.” he explained. “We believe that by leveraging our current infrastructure we are able to offer an affordable alternative.”

That the BoatsPlus.com.au website already receives over 45,000 visitors per month, speaks volumes for the high regard in which it is held in the Australian boating community. With the addition of the new classifieds section for boat sales, along with outboard motors, yachts and other marine accessories, the site will, Moulton believes, “maximise our existing visitor’s experience”.

The Australian Marine Love Affair

Australia has always had a water-loving population, having a great affinity with water sports, including sailing, cruising, jet-skiing, canoeing, kayaking and water skiing. It should therefore come as no surprise to learn that boat-ownership is one of the goals of its coastal population.

In what many agree to be challenging economic times, the trend has been for Australian’s to holiday at home, often with water sports playing a key role. As a result, the BoatsPlus team is committed to placing a high degree of importance on delivering the best possible value to its customers through its new classifieds service.

Used boat classifieds will be an important addition to the BoatsPlus online portal, which currently features:

Manitou Pontoon Boats Launches Boater Safety Quiz for National Safe Boating Week

Manitou Pontoon Boats Launches Boater Safety Quiz for National Safe Boating Week

Lansing, MI (PRWEB) May 19, 2011

In recognition of National Safe Boating Week 2011, Manitou Pontoon Boats has partnered with Discover Boating and BoatSafe.com to offer a free boater safety quiz to test boaters’ safety knowledge and spread the word about safe boating practices. Boating enthusiast are encouraged to take the quiz to challenge their boating know-how and boating websites are invited to add the boater safety quiz to their sites for free.

The Boaters Safety Quiz is an interactive 25-question quiz developed to sharpen the safety knowledge of both experienced boaters and novices alike. The application includes a copy and paste embedding feature to make it simple to add to a site.

Manitou Pontoon Boat’s Boaters Safety Quiz arrives in time for National Safe Boating Week (May 21 through May 27th, 2011), the yearly week dedicated to educating individuals on ways to stay safe aboard boats all year round. Manitou Boats, a member of the National Safe Boating Council which sponsors National Safe Boating Week, believes that safety is of the utmost importance:

“We feel that the National Safe Boating Week is a fun yet informative annual reminder to boaters about precautionary measures that should be taken to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences on the water. We recently joined the National Safe Boating Council to further our support of safety on the water. Time on the water is usually spent with friends and family, their safety should be held in the highest regard,” says Greg VanWagenen, Director of Sales and Marketing at Manitou Boats.

Manitou Boats ensure that their boats provide the highest tier of safety possible: “Since our inception in 1986, Manitou has gone above and beyond to provide customers with the safest boating experience they can have on the water. We joined the NMMA our first year of business and have been a member ever since. Until recently, abiding by ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) standards was the only requirement for a boat builder; the NMMA membership was voluntary and requires much more stringent manufacturing practices,” adds VanWagenen.

National Safe Boating Week 2011 is May 21 through May 27th, 2011 and is sponsored by the National Safe Boating Council. To view the boater safety quiz, visit http://www.manitouboats.com/quiz/.
